Diner reports server goes nuts at local restaurant in a Southwest Jefferson
County. Elderly couple asked the server for the corn bread the server forgot to bring. The server became
agitated and started screaming at the elderly couple. The server continued to shout and scream. All the diners stopped
eating to watch the action. When the server stopped screaming, she started serving food to the other diners. The
elderly woman was in tears and the elderly man was shaken by this experience. Management did not address the problem
or speak with the elderly couple. Other diners assisted the elderly couple to their car when they were ready to exit
Another Dining Shocker
and a woman enter a Mexican Restaurant and are greeted by the male host. The man asked the host "Do you serve white
people here"? A strange look fell over the host face and then he smiled. "Absolutely" said the
host. As he escorted the couple to the table he said with a smile, "but we charge them extra" Turns out the
host and the man were friends and belonged to the same church. Lavity, among friends, politically correct or not

FUN AND COMMENTS
Dixie Highway News Encourages Businesses
In tough times like these, even the most honest businessman or businesswoman can be tempted
to cut corners, in their ethics, in order to win business to feed their families. I think most
small business owners are basically honest and have high moral character. But, this
is not always true. Here is an example:
A couple of years ago I asked a funeral director
how may cremation services was performed in their funeral home. He said, "Oh, that's just
for those poor people who have not planned well and can not afford to have a real funeral for
their family. We try to avoid these people and direct them elsewhere". I was
saddened by his comment. His funeral business was highly respected in the community and his customers would be shocked by what he said. We continued to talk and I asked him if
he was satisfied with how his business was performing.
A grin ran across his face as I asked my question and it turned into a smile as he seemed to look at the wall over the top
of my head. He said, "it has been a very good year for us".
We were also discussing
creating an AD campaign in my magazines and he said, "I
will give you an Ad for your little magazine". But, I responded, "It seems you are doing just fine without our magazine advertising".
We concluded our meeting and he left the room before me. As
I turned around to leave the room, I notice a chart on the wall that had been behind me as I taked
with the funeral director. The chart displayed 27 funerals and the amount of revenue each one generated. No wonder he was smiling. His unfortunate comment made it appear that he
loved money more than people. He might not have made this statement
if he had known my wife was cremated.
My wife fought cancer for many years. It had destroyed
her beauty and she had no quality of life toward the end. She did not want a funeral. She did not want an obituary
published. As soon as she passed she wanted her body transported to the crematory and burned.
Her wishes were honored.
industry and I can tell you a similar story about highly respected people who behind the scenes talk
about their customers with disrespect but take their money with a big "trust me" smile.
I do not look for this. But, I have worked with thousands of business owners
over the past 40 years and the law of averages reveals the stinkers eventually.
let this be known; the funeral directors of this state are people of the
highest quailty and character one can find in any community.
And to be as fair as possible, the funeral director who said these words I shared with you probably spoke in a clumsy way and would have made his statements differently if he
had taken more time to formulate his thoughts. I am not trying to verbally
beat up or pick on anyone. What I am saying to myself and to others is this, "We all have
to be extra careful during these tough times not to surrender
our character on the altar of money".

walks into the bar and the bartender say, "We have a drink named after you." The grasshopper replies, "
My names Freddy. You really have a drink named Freddy?"
Did you hear the story about the blonde waitress at her first day at work. Well, a trucker came into a truck
stop cafe and placed his order. He said, I want three flat tires, a parir of headlights and a pair of running boards.
The brand new blonde waitress, not wanting to appear stupid, went to the kitchen
and said to the cook. "This guy out there just ordered three flat tires, a pair of headlights and a pair of running
Boards. What does he think this place is, an auto parts store?" "No" he cook said, "Three
flat tires mean three pancakes, a pair of headlights is two eggs sunny side up, and running boards are 2 slices of crisp bacon."
"Oh, OK!" said the blonde. She thought about it for a moment
and then spooned up a bowl of beans and gave it to the customer. The trucker asked, "What are the beans for, Blondie?"
She replied, "I thought while you were waiting for the flat tires, headlights and running boards, you might as
well gas upu!"
